Marilyn York and the Nevada Youth Empowerment Project are thrilled to announce the 11^th annual Fall Harvest Festival! All proceeds of this beloved, family-friendly affair benefit the non-profit’s mission of breaking the cycle of homelessness by giving young women the tools they need to succeed.

Taking place at the beautiful Bartley Ranch Regional Park Sunday, September 22^nd, the Fall Harvest Festival promises a day filled with fun activities such as carnival games, cake walk and cupcake bar, petting zoo, carriage rides, face painting, live performances, food trucks and more!

Come one, come all! This event is open to the public, and admission is free with donations encouraged. All proceeds from the event support NYEP in its mission to give homeless young women in the Reno area a chance to reroute their lives through a structured program that provides housing and basic needs, life skills training, countless opportunities to practice those new life skills, and the overarching love and support of a family. This is cause that is close to Marilyn’s heart, and we appreciate your support!

Marilyn York and the Nevada Youth Empowerment Project are excited to announce the inaugural Halloween Ball, open to the public on October 27, 2023 from 5-10pm at The Virgil.

The Halloween Ball is an ADULT COSTUMED event featuring Halloween-themed foods and drinks, live entertainment, a costume contest, fall wreath auction, silent auction, tarot readings, custom poetry and fortunes, ghost tales, fill your own swag bag, and more.

The event is open to the public, is not for children, and all proceeds will go directly to The Nevada Youth Empowerment Project to support its mission of giving homeless young women (18-24) in the Reno area a chance to reroute their lives through a structured program that provides:

Housing and basic needs.

Life skills training.

Opportunities to practice new life skills.

The support and love of a family.

A principle-based organization serving women.

Tickets are $150 and can be purchased here.

After a brief hiatus, the newspaper returned this summer with its very popular “Best of Northern Nevada” awards contest. Thousands of votes were recorded, and Marilyn York has been announced as one of the recipients of the 2021 Influential Women of the Sierra Nevada Award. Marilyn York has donated her heart and expertise to the Reno community in and out of the courtroom.

Marilyn York, raised in Reno since 1989, has established herself and her passion right in the heart of Reno. Her office is located at the corner of Gordon and California Avenue in a cute and quaint renovated house. The home was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Marilyn hosted a Halloween movie night at the El Rancho Drive-In movie theater to benefit Nevada Youth Empower Project. Halloween was looking a little different this year with the ongoing COVID-19 concerns. To get into Halloween spirit and to give back to NYEP, Marilyn, following safety guidelines, gathered the community in spooky costumes and enjoyed “Monster House.”

With neither 17 million children growing up in America without a father, Marilyn sheds light on the significance fathers and why she is proud to be a men’s right’s lawyer in Reno, Nevada.

NYEP gives homeless young women, ages 18-24, the chance and opportunity to reroute their lives by providing housing and training programs. She is president of the board and helps provide resources to help support the mission of NYEP.

Marilyn York was recognized as an outstanding professional and received the 2010, "Twenty Under 40" award from the Reno/Tahoe Young Professional Network! This award is presented to the top twenty professionals, under the age of forty, in the Reno/Tahoe area that continues to display outstanding work not only in their field but in the community. Marilyn was recognized for starting her business at the young age of 25, hosting a weekly radio show, volunteering as a judge in debate and mock trials for local high schools, and donating to several local charities. Marilyn was one of seven winners that graduated from The University of Nevada, Reno, and is proud to be a community leader and watch Nevada thrive!
