DOCUMENTS

1.  Passwording (encrypting) PDFs:  on Firefox on a Mac, go to top Menu, “File”, “Export”, which creates a new file copy and in the new small window select “Encrypt”, add new Password twice, change or keep file name, designate “Where” to save, and select “Save”.  Note this saved copy is an encrypted copy of the original file that you started with which remains not encrypted.

2.  Passwording (encrypting) Microsoft Word documents on a Mac:  on a Word document, click on top Menu, “Review”, “Protect”, “Protect Document”, in the new small window, add new Password (4) places. Note this encrypts the original file and does not create a new copy of it.

3.  Passwording (encrypting) WordPerfect documents on a PC:  on a WP document,

 

EMAILS

1.  Finding keyword(s) in an email in Firefox on a Mac, on keyboard select Command-F, type keyword(s) which will then become highlighted.  Note only exact words, not parts of words, are found (highlighted in green).

2.  Send Gmail messages & attachments confidentially
  1. On your computer, go to Gmail.
  2. Click Compose.
  3. In the bottom right of the window, click Turn on confidential mode . Tip: If you’ve already turned on confidential mode for an email, go to the bottom of the email, then click Edit.
  4. Set an expiration date and passcode. …
  5. Click Save.

 

PC SCREENSHOTS

Recommended Method.  Saving Screenshots on Windows 10 PCs to PNGs, JPGs or GIFs:

  1. Use the following keyboard keys in combo:  Windows logo key + Shift + S.
  2. Click and outline portion of screen for the new screenshot.
  3. in the new small window that opens, select the “Snip & Sketch” logo near the left margin.
  4. A new “Snip & Sketch” window opens, (note tools at top middle of window to modify), use Ctrl S
  5. A new “Save As” window opens, at bottom add “File name” of your choice, “Save as type” (PNG works well), and in the left column select the Folder of your choice, say “Documents”.
  6. Close any windows left open from above steps.

Alternative Method.Saving Screenshots on Windows 10 PCs to PDFs:

  1. Use the following keyboard keys in combo:  Windows logo key + Shift + S.
  2. Click and outline portion of screen for the new screenshot.
  3. in the new small window that opens, select the “Snip & Sketch” logo near the left margin.
  4. A new “Snip & Sketch” window opens, (note tools at top middle of window to modify), use Ctrl P
  5. A new “Print snip – Print” window opens, select “Microsoft Print to PDF” in upper left corner. and select “Print” in lower left corner.
  6. A new “Save Print Output As” window opens, at bottom, add “File name” of your choice, “Save” (the saved PDF goes to “Documents” or a preselected folder of your choice).
  7. Close any windows left open from above steps.
