have been living in the Reno/Sparks area since I was five years old. I
grew up in Sparks, where I attended both elementary and middle school.
I have played sports all of my life, mostly focusing on softball and
basketball. Every so often I'll play slow pitch softball on a
tournament team with my sister and friends. I attended Bishop Manogue
High School and received the Governor Guinn Millenium Scholarship. I
graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Arts
Degree in History. After graduating from UNR, I attended law school at
the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Boyd School of Law.
It has always been important to me to give back to the different communities that I have been a part of.
Once I graduated law school, I became an Americorps Legal Fellow and
worked at Nevada Legal Services in Las Vegas for a year. While working
at Nevada Legal Services, I received a Compassionate Las Vegas Honors
award from Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman and the Las Vegas City
Council. After my time as an Americorps Fellow was up, I returned to
Reno as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Egan Walker. When I began my time
with Judge Walker, he was a Judge in the Second Judicial District Family
Court. I then followed him to the General Jurisdiction of the Second
Judicial District when he was appointed to Department 7 by Governor
I decided early on that I wanted to become a lawyer so that I would have the ability to help
people and give back to the community that has given me so much. Since
law school, I knew practicing family law would give me the ability to
fulfill this need. When I learned that Marilyn York was hiring, I
jumped at the chance to apply as I had always admired her as an attorney
and a person, and was eager to join her team of intelligent,
hard-working and compassionate attorneys.
