Law Attorney

I was born in Reno, attended Reno High School, and graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a degree in Biology. Although I’ve lived in Reno most of my life, I have traveled overseas extensively with my family. While I was growing up and all the way through lawschool my Dad took us on at least one big trip a year. Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to visit various countries in Europe, South America, and Southeast Asia, as well as China, India, Australia, and Africa. Traveling continues to be one of my favorite things to do.

When I was 14, I began studying the Korean martial art of Tang Soo Do. Since that time, the study of martial arts has become a lifelong endeavor, teaching me discipline and focus which I strive to employ in every aspect of my life, including my practice of family law. I am currently training and teaching as I work toward my fourth degree black belt.

While at the University of Nevada I spent my free time playing rugby for the UNR Women’s Rugby Team. I have since been known to participate in the occasional Rugby Alumni Game. After graduating from UNR, I attended the University of California, Davis, King Hall School of Law. While I definitely enjoyed my time in Northern California, I had no problems returning home shortly after graduation.

After law school I began working for a local civil litigation firm specializing in insurance defense. Settlements are common in civil litigation, however, due to my work ethic and a bit of good fortune, I accumulated a significant amount of general court appearances and participated in five jury trials before I was recruited by Marilyn. While I thoroughly enjoyed my time in civil litigation, I jumped at the chance to practice Family Law.

Practicing family law often involves maintaining composure in the face of highly emotional and life changing conflicts. My clients need zealous and compassionate advocacy tempered by realistic advice. If I had one piece of advice to give my clients it would be to take a proactive approach. I can’t tell you how many people come into my office plagued with legal problems that could have been avoided. These problems usually involve ignoring a court order, trusting a verbal agreement, or filing legally binding documents without having them reviewed by an attorney. Every client who leaves my office will do so with a realistic picture of what to expect, and the most efficient plan for achieving their goals. At the end of the day, I may not always tell my clients, what they want to hear, but I will tell them what they need to hear, with sensitivity.
